LET'S DIVE SAFELY 2024

Beginner freediving course

Learn how to freedive safely to a depth of 20m

Many people take up freediving on their own – self-taught. To make diving safer, more relaxed and more enjoyable, we have organised a three-day breathing diving course, which will be offered on several dates throughout the spring, summer and autumn.

You will learn the following skills:

  • how to extend diving duration,
  • how to increase the depth of dives (up to 20m),
  • SAFE diving techniques,
  • psychological preparation for the dive,
  • correct breathing,
  • pressure equalising.

The course is designed for:

  • For complete beginners who want to start this sport and have absolutely no experience.
  • For people who have been snorkelling for a long time and want to improve their performance and safety.

The course is led by the instructor - Jure Daić

  • First Slovenian to dive deeper than 100m, Bahamas, 2.12.2009,
  • 17 national records set (in 10 different disciplines),
  • 7 national championships,
  • Instructor with 18 years of experience and more than 3000 trained students,

Jure and I met before the course started, as he had already done it before me. I joined the students from Ljubljana in the training sessions and got actively involved in the team myself. Although Jure and I have never met and I have never done a course with him, he has answered 5,000 beginner questions via emails and once joined a training session to help advise us on technique. As I was completely overwhelmed by apnoea and wanted to progress safely, I decided to take a beginner course with Jure. Even before the course started, I knew that Jure is a person who gives maximum attention to the individual and also knows how to motivate them (whether they are H2O-ers or not - my case ). This is how the course itself was run. See you in August at the H2O Team training camp. Jure and assistants - Jure K. and Boštjan, hats off. Thank you!

30-minute one-to-one consultation on the purchase of diving equipment

  • 80% of people who venture into the world of freediving take a “kick in the dark” when buying equipment. Most of them buy pieces of individual equipment (e.g. mask, fins, diving suit) that are not optimal for their needs or physical constitution. There is also a lot of equipment on the market that is completely non-functional (e.g. a ventilator with valves). Only later do they realise that the equipment they have bought is not suitable. They then buy the equipment again, losing money in the process. For example, you could lose €250-400 by buying the wrong carbon fins. During the consultation, we will have a one-to-one discussion about your individual goals and aspirations for scuba diving. Based on this, I can independently recommend what equipment to buy based on your needs and financial capacity, and specific information on where to buy it most cost-effectively.

The best knowledge transfer in one weekend

I went for the run out of curiosity and a desire to gain the knowledge to go 'a little deeper' and 'a little longer' to stay afloat. The course concept is polished 'to the core' and I don't think there is much room for improvement. The delivery of knowledge is comprehensive and at a pace that allows everyone to follow. During practical work, regardless of the background (and difficulties) of individual students, the instructors adapt to make concrete progress for all. If you're wondering whether investing in a course is worth the money, then I can assure you: you can't get a better rate anywhere. Recommended with a capital P. Thank you Jure!

Frequently asked questions

We can arrange accommodation for all participants in Malinska, where the course takes place. For many years, we have been accommodated in beautifully furnished apartments with large communal lounges and two swimming pools. The apartments are a 1-minute walk from the town centre and the sea. We have agreed a favourable price for students sharing apartments to minimise costs. It is normal practice for students to be accompanied by family, friends,… If you have your own accommodation on Krk, you are of course welcome to use it.

You must be aged 15 or over. The course is not recommended for people with chronic heart or lung disease. All students must be swimmers and must be physically fit to participate in other recreational sports.

All you need is a towel and a swimsuit to take part in the course, everything else can be borrowed free of charge. The equipment we use is: mask, snorkel, long fins, 3mm socks, 5mm hooded suit with long sleeves and approx. 5kg weights. If you have your own equipment, it is preferable to use it, as you are used to it.

Theoretical part (9 hours):

    • – the history of scuba diving
    • – disciplines
    • – equipment (wetsuit, mask, fins, weights…)
    • – diver characteristics
    • – physics (Boyle’s law, Archimedes, Dalton’s law, sound under water)
    • – physiology (respiratory system, lung volumes, ear, sinuses)
    • – hazards (barotrauma, hypoxia, hyperventilation, nutrition)
    • – protection and rescue of casualties
    • – 10 rules for safe diving

Pool exercises (3 hours)

Deep dives (6 hours)

Breathing and relaxation exercises (2 hours)

Individual advice on equipment, approach and objectives after the course (0.5 hours)

COURSE 1A

I have been diving for 20 years, but all these years the dives have been flawed, improperly executed or even dangerous. I decided to take the course after recommendations from older students and a desire to improve my diving knowledge. Jure and the whole H20 Team have done a great job. The progress of the whole team of students has been tremendous. They dedicated themselves to each individual and brought me and the whole team of students the success we could hardly have imagined before the course.
Thank you Jure and the H20 team

More relaxed, calmer and longer dives

Running in the wind is an experience I recommend to everyone who is close to this sport.

My dives after the run were much more relaxed, calmer and of course longer.

Theoretical course of spearfishing, a unique experience, a lot of acquired knowledge for which I would need a lot of time to accumulate it myself.I recommend it to everyone.

Professional, expert and informative

The beginner course in dah diving Malinska Krk was professionally, professionally and informatively conducted. Theoretical and practical part. My compliments to the lecturer and expert Jure Daić and his team (instructors).

Darko Kamenšek

A great course for super progress

I took the first course in 2012 and it helped me a lot to dive longer and deeper. In 2013, I did an advanced course and later a PL course. Without these courses, I doubt I would have progressed as far as I did in PL and lime. The socialising with club members, training camp, robinzon and other activities afterwards also helped a lot.
